Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Portville as follows:
To extend the residency requirements for Town Offices. Under Municipal Home Rule Law, sec. 10
grants the authority to the Town of Portville to expand the residency requirements for the town
clerks. This law also states specifically that a particular town office, or all town offices for that
matter, must reside within the county or state within the town is located and not necessarily have
to reside within the town itself. All of Cattaraugus and Allegany County will be included in this local
town law. This local town law will also supercede any provision of a state statute governing the
residency requirement for Town Offices.
